Happy Birthday!

In honor and celebration of the first birthday of DSC, I created a small kit for anyone who likes to get freebies! And for anyone who would like to learn the "how-tos" for creating with PSP, you should check out the DCS site.

Sunshiny Day

Well, it has been a long, long, long time since I have posted! :-) Life events happened.......my computer crashed; the elementary school year ended and I had to pack up the classroom; my son's house close to the UGA campus was burglarized......... 3 times ........so we moved him back home and had to acquire new housing accomodations for the fall semester.............you get the picture!! We all have life experiences that get us side-tracked occasionally.

I have found time to begin creating again, yeah!!!! The weather has been hot, hot , hot which inspired the set called "Sunshiny Day." I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to send some layouts showing how you use it; I would love to see them.

I'm in the Mood for . . . . . . Flowers!!!

I know that some of you were really wondering what I was in the mood for!!!!!!! (LOL)

I am in definite need of some relaxing time AWAY from STUDENTS and the CLASSROOM!!!!!

Spring Break is just around the corner.............and I am definitely ready for a break. This is my 16th year in the classroom........and while I definitely enjoy and value my career, this year has been challenging.........and I am soooooooooooooooooo ready for a break. I have no formal plans for the week of spring break, just rest and relaxation. Of course there are tons of things that need to be completed around the house and the vegetable garden.........BUT relaxing is all I have on my mind! Maybe work on some scrapbook sets......or maybe not! Who knows? Taking one day at a time is going to be my main priority next week.

Speaking of in the mood for ..................................flowers! This newest set is beautiful (if I do say so myself!!!!!).....................but then again, I try really hard to make every set/kit beautiful. Oh well..........this one I call my "floral" set... (50 backgrounds/papers) ....beautiful shades of blue, coral, peach, and pinks! Quite like spring and/or summer!!

As always, I hope someone can find a use for the set.......I do so enjoy creating for all of you! Send me some "love" and some layouts that you are creating. I know that someone out there is using my designs because of the number of previews and downloads!!!! Enjoy, but let me share your creativeness with others.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Our Saviour, Jesus Christ, is ALIVE!!

It has been a delightful day spent with family, sharing delicious food, and of course helping the youngsters (triplet nephews aged 3 and my 2 year old niece) hunt eggs. Then later in the afternoon came the time to say "goodbye" to my son and send him back off to college. I played around with Paint Shop Pro while waiting for my son to call telling me he had arrived safely back to UGA.

I started this set with a tube of a red poppy (don't know where I got it to give credit) and the background papers and QP just evolved!!!! Hopefully someone can find a use for it. Below is a glimpse of the QP. Papers, ribbon, and frames are in the zipfile.

I am still thinking "spring" and used a free picture from pics.am to create a lovely pinkish spring set. I hope someone likes it.

Thinking Spring

Thinking Spring.............

What a difference a day makes! If you live in the south and do not like the weather on a particular day...............just wait to see what the morrow brings!! Saturday we awoke to snow flurries, gusty winds, and temperatures that did not climb above 36 degrees all day. Today, Sunday, we awoke to the change for Daylight Saving Time, sunshine, and temperatures in the mid 50s. Like I said, "What a difference a day makes!"

I am definitely ready for the spring season. My husband and I have begun the spring planting in the vegetable garden with cabbage, lettuce, and sweet English peas. Even the weather changes has not kept the vegetables from beginning their emergence from the dark depths of the winter soil. So far, all three veggies are sprouting and showing signs of growth. YEAH!!!!!! We enjoy gardening, harvesting, and preserving the fruits of our labors.........and the health benefits are great for us and our family as well. This is our first try at growing the English peas, so I do hope we are successful.

Soon we will be planting the remainder of the vegetables........green beans, corn, squash, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, okra, and perhaps onions. We are usually pretty successful with our gardening and harvest enough for meals during the summer as well as preserving enough to feed us through the winter months. This past harvest was so successful that we shared our bountiful harvest with friends and neighbors. WOW!!!! What fun the gardening experience is.

Some of my favorite memories are gardening as a child, walking barefoot through the warm Georgia soil, and having green thumbs, literally, from harvesting and shelling green beans and other vegetables.

Hurry up spring! I can hardly wait for the sights, smells, and tastes of gardening in the south!

Posted a new themed kit today titled "Plum Navy" due to the colors. The kit contains: 7 QP's; 3 borders; 11 elements; 15 background/papers; and 1 word art. I hope someone will enjoy this one.

Pastel Celebration

I have been enjoying beautiful sunshine, warm temperatures, and time with family. I did however take some time to work on another freebie for those of you who are following my weekly posts.

I call this one Pastel Celebration in honor of the coming of spring! I just love the pastel colors of daffodils, tulips, and crocus in bloom .........a bit early, I know.......... but I have seen several of my spring bulbs starting to emerge through the winter ground.....nothing blooming yet, but the tender green shoots are in fact a promise of the beauty to come.

As always, I hope someone out there can use something from the kit. There are several papers/backgrounds, bows, and QP's in this kit. Remember to abide by my terms of use if you use my creations and a link back to my blog would be greatly appreciated.

Thinking Spring & Summer

I know, I know..........the groundhog saw his shadow, and according to the ole' wives tale we should have 6 more weeks of winter weather. Personally, I am ready for springtime and moving right on into summer.

Do you ever find yourself in a rut? I do, and when I looked at the freebies I have posted lately, I appeared to be in a "pinks" rut in creating my kits. I have a hard time getting away from the pinks and shades of pink. I thought my next kit would be without pinks, but I find that I am still including some pinkish shades.

This kit is a creation from some of the beautiful hibiscus flowers that my grandmother always had growing in her flower gardens. The files are large as I created the backgrounds/papers in the 12" x 12" size @ 300 dpi. I will upload several zip files with the backgrounds/papers and elements.

As always, I hope someone out there enjoys the creations I come up with. If so, please remember to leave a comment and/or a bit of love!! Enjoy!!

Will you be mine?

Valentine's day is right around the corner!

I have been thinking about those romantic days of long ago when true love was meant to last for a lifetime. Luckily, I have been blessed with one of those lifetime relationships. I met my husband on a blind date 30 years ago, and we still talk about and remember those special days as if they happened only yesterday. Yes, we have grown older, and have two handsome sons (aged 22 and 20) as reminders of the union of our marriage.

When my husband and I said "I do" it was a commitment for a lifetime. Actually, our marriage ceremony was officiated by the same minister that performed the marriage ceremony for my parents. I remember him telling my husband and me that he had tied the knot strongly for my parents, and he would be tying the knot even more strongly for us because times had changed and marriages usually didn't last in the times we lived in now. How true his statement was.

My husband and I have had our ups and downs, just like most couples, but our marriage has managed to survive the trials and tribulations of the times in which we live. I am happy to say that love does indeed last. Yes, it does take work on the part of both people in the relationship, but with tender-loving care from both people, a marriage can last a lifetime.

Last of the Costa Rica set

It was back to school today after having Martin Luther King day off. The students were very talkative and still excited about the snowy white stuff that we had over the weekend . . . and then as we were walking to art class today we started getting some sleet and freezing rain. Boy oh boy, did that set off some excitement among the students...........and a few teachers as well!!!

The cold, damp air today made me think about warmer weather, so I was determined to do some blogging this afternoon and get out the final piece of the "Costa Rica" set. I am not much of a cold weather person and could really enjoy being in a warmer climate right now. I cannot imagine how you folks in the northern part of the US who get snow and ice regularly survive in the cold day after day and year after year. I know, like many southerners I am spoiled rotten with the typically mild winters in the south. It just makes me appreciate even more how blessed I am to live where I do.

Enough said.............here is the preview and the link to the final portion of the Costa Rica set. I hope those of you who have downloaded it enjoy it as much as I did when I created it.

Temperature Rises above the Freezing Mark

There is one thing I can say about living in the southeast United States and that is if you don't like the weather on one particular day, hang around because the weather is sure to change.

Approximately two weeks ago we had temperatures in the mid 60's, and today we have finally climbed above the freezing point. We have also had two days with snow and accumulations of 1-3 inches of the white stuff.

Snow is an unusual phenomean here in the state of Georgia. When we do get snow, people seem to forget how to drive safely so it is best to just stay bundled up inside with a good book or to work on graphics!

So here you have it!! The product of some time spent inside and out of the cold, snowy weather. Enjoy the elements for the Costa Rica set. There are 34 of them packed inside the zip file.

Been Busy.........

Well, life does happen and things come up!! I have not posted for quite a while because "things" such as completing the yearbook for my school got right in the middle of life. I am the yearbook adviser for my school, as such it is my responsibility to make sure the layout and page files are complete and ready to send to the publisher by the agreed upon deadline. Completion of the yearbook has been my top priority for the past couple of weeks. Now that I have everything sent to the publisher, I can return to creating and posting freebies as I feel like it!!

More Warm Weather

Hello to all,

The warm weather here in Georgia continues today. . . it is 65 degrees Farenheight right now at 5:50 p.m. WOW!! Like yesterday, more like spring than winter.

I offically went back to the classroom today. Students come back to school tomorrow. We are offically 1/2 way through the school year.

I will continue to post regularly and give freebies as time allows. Today's freebie is the 2nd part of the Costa Rica set. You can download it below...........and remember, those thoughtful comments are great for my ego!!

Warm Weather

Well, today in Georgia has been more like a spring day than a winter day. Granted, we rarely get snowy, wintery weather here, but the temperature has been in the mid-60s in my area today.

Sunny and warm..........just my type of weather.......made me think of a lovely trip that I took to Costa Rica about four years ago. Costa Rica was so beautiful! It is most definitely a place I would enjoy returning to at some time in the future.

So, today's freebie is the first part of a set that I created from a photo of an unusual Costa Rican flower. I do not know the name of the flower, but it helped to make an awesome set.

For those of you visiting my blog, you have already discovered that I get carried away when I am creating in PSP. So, like my two previous freebies ~Citrus and Feeling Blue ~ there are numerous items in this set too!! The only change is that I have decided to post this set in parts rather than posting the entire set at once............perhaps a little part at a time will whet your appetite and you will continue to visit for more!! (lol)

Feeling Blue

Feeling a bit 'blue' this evening . . . my youngest son had to go back to college this afternoon, so that means the holidays are officially over for me and my family.

As my son reminded me before he drove away, "Mom, I am only two hours away, and the way you drive you can be at my house in half that time!" What a nice and gentle way for him to remind me that at times my foot gets a bit heavy on the accelerator of my car!!! Thank goodness I have been fortunate and have not received any speeding warnings or tickets. I think we all know how unsettling it feels to see 'blue' lights from an officer's patrol car in our rear-view mirror.

Oh well, I decided to work with PSP to help me forget about the 'blues'...........and what did I come up with? Why of course a wintery set called "feeling blue." With this set, I tried going with the 12"x 12" 300dpi size that I see so many people using, and I discovered that graphics of that size are extremely huge and heavy when trying to save and zip. So for all of you who typically use the 12"x 12" sized graphics for digital scrapping, my hat is off to each of you for working with the large files. Personally, I think I do a much better job creating with smaller files.

This "feeling blue" set contains 36 backgrounds/papers, 7 ribbon scraps, 10 torn papers, and 3 miscellaneous images. This is my first set that was created for the most part with the 12"x 12" size and comes in 7 zipfiles, so I really hope everything looks okay ......... please go easy on the comments IF the images are not as great as the ones in my "citrus" set. I still have lots of room to grow and learn.........and remember that my terms of use do allow for resizing if necessary.

New Venture

Welcome to 2008 and my newest venture . . . blogging to promote my very own digital scrapping. I have so enjoyed learning how to create websets and scrapsets to use on my own classroom website that I thought, "Why not share my creations with others!"
